What happens during the first session? The first session is about getting to know you. Scott will ask about your background, what brought you in, and what you'd like to work on. It's a conversation, not an interview — there are no right or wrong answers. You'll also have a chance to ask any questions you have about the process.
How long does therapy take? It depends on your goals. Some people see meaningful progress in 6–10 sessions. Others benefit from longer-term work. Scott will work with you to set goals and adjust the plan as you go. There's no pressure to commit to a set number of sessions upfront.
How much does a session cost? Individual sessions are $100/hour. Couples sessions are $125/hour. Group sessions are $75/hour. Sliding scale rates are available upon request — contact us to discuss. We also accept 13+ major insurance plans.
Do you accept insurance? Yes. NEGU Counseling accepts 13+ major insurance plans and is actively expanding coverage. We recommend contacting your insurance provider before your first session to verify your mental health benefits. See our Insurance & Pricing page for the full list.
Do you offer telehealth / online therapy? Yes. NEGU Counseling offers secure telemental health sessions for clients anywhere in Georgia. All you need is a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera. Telehealth sessions offer the same quality of care as in-person visits.
Is therapy confidential? Yes. Everything you share in session is kept confidential. There are limited legal exceptions — for example, if there is imminent risk of harm to yourself or others — which Scott will explain clearly at your first appointment. NEGU Counseling is HIPAA-compliant.
Do you work with military veterans or first responders? Yes. Scott Mills is a Certified Veteran and Military Mental Health Provider (CVMHP) with extensive experience working with military personnel, veterans, first responders, and their families. He understands the unique challenges of this population and provides specialized care.
